Ignatian Spirituality.Africa
A Service of St Francis Xavier Parish, Kabwe, Zambia
βTo help all people encounter God in the ordinary β in prayer, reflection, and the life of the world.β
IgnatianSpirituality.Africa is part of a global family inspired by the spirituality of St Ignatius of Loyola, the 16th-century Basque pilgrim whose encounter with God changed history.
Ignatius discovered that God meets us not in rare or distant moments, but in the everyday movements of the heart β in joy and sorrow, work and rest, community and solitude.
Our mission is to share this grace online: to offer a daily sacred space for prayer, to form people in discernment, and to nurture a spirituality that transforms both the person and the world.
Each day, we offer a gentle, guided prayer in six simple stages, following the Ignatian rhythm that leads from stillness to encounter:
You can pray anywhere β at your desk, on a bus, or in the quiet of dawn. God is present everywhere, even on a phone screen. βWhen we know this, we can pray anywhere.β
Alongside daily prayer, our Living Word reflections open the Scriptures with Ignatian insight and African experience β exploring how Godβs Word speaks to our communities, cultures, and struggles today. Each reflection invites you to listen, discern, and act with compassion.
IgnatianSpirituality.Africa is rooted in the Jesuit mission of faith and justice and stands in solidarity with the Church across Africa and the world.
We share the spirit of the global online apostolate Sacred Space, founded by the Irish Jesuits in 1999, now praying in over 15 languages. Our African expression carries the same heartbeat β to make digital spaces places of encounter with God.
Our prayer community connects with other ancient and living traditions of contemplation: the stillness of Benedictine prayer, the inner fire of Carmelite mysticism, the joyful simplicity of the Poor Clares, and the everyday discernment of Ignatius, who teaches us to find God in all things.
Whether online or offline, we seek to form contemplatives in action β people whose prayer flows into service, justice, and hope.
All are offered freely so that everyone, everywhere can find a path to God.
